Colour in Clothes

What if the role of colour in our clothes is a lot more than just aesthetic? What if the colours we wear affect our emotions and define how we deal with life? What if we could use the clothes we wear to achieve the outcomes we desire?

Colour is a frequency. The only difference between the frequencies of radio waves, TV waves, microwaves, x-rays and colour, is that we can see the frequency of colour.

Colour/light enters our eyes via the optic nerve to a very small organ in the brain called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is the CEO of the brain. This tiny organ is responsible for controlling the nervous system and the endocrine system whose combined effects regulate all biological functions in humans. As colour is a frequency/energy we are also affected by colour through our skin which influences us on a cellular level.

Colour in Science & Health

Here are a few examples of the use of colour

  • Newborn babies who have jaundice are placed under a blue light.
  • Photodynamic Therapy is a form of cancer treatment.
  • Psychologists are finding that by shining different coloured lights into a client’s eyes emotional issues come to the surface more quickly.
  • Photo-rejuvenation in beauty therapy is the use of different frequencies of light to rejuvenate the cell structure and helps to reduce wrinkles or spots on the skin.
  • Infra-red Saunas are used to warm the body and release toxins from the body.
  • Different coloured vegetables and fruit help different areas of the body e.g. red food can give more energy, blueberries are good for the brain, orange and yellow foods are very good for the digestive areas and green vegetables are very good for the heart and lung area.

Colour in our Physical Environment

Colour has always been used in interior design and marketing. Restaurants, especially fast food restaurants use the colour red as it stimulates the senses and encourages appetite. It also ensures you don’t sit there for too long and is often used in casinos to encourage you to spend more money.

In schools where tests have been conducted painting the walls in different colours together with the use of full spectrum lighting have recorded students as having better concentration, improved academic results, lower levels of hyperactivity and lower incidence of sickness. The same results were with blind children.

Some prisons and police stations use pink cells to calm down violent inmates.

In streets where there is a lot of crime, tests have been done where pink light bulbs have been used in street lights and there has been a decrease in crime rate.

Colour and the Human Body

Every colour affects a specific area of the human body and when the body’s colours are in balance, the body is in harmony. If there is a balance of all colour, then there is white light and that is what most of us are seeking, to be in the light or to be enlightened.

In every language we have references to colour to portray how we feel e.g. I’m feeling blue; he’s seeing red; she looks like a grey mouse; I’m good as gold; looking at the world through rose-tinted glasses

Colour Coaching: The choice of colour in our clothing is our resonance with the qualities and properties of that colour. We are the colours we wear! This is how colour coaching works. Colours affect our emotions. When we change the colours we wear, we change our emotions and how other people see us.

Colour Coaching does not only look at the colour, but also at the positioning of the colour as different areas on the body give different messages. The positioning of the colours in our tops or shirts will say how we feel, the colour of the jacket will indicate how we want others to perceive us and the colour of the trousers or skirt is how we want to present ourselves, or what drives us or motivates us. Our thoughts reflect our emotions which is reflected in our colour choices. By understanding the language of colour we can choose to wear colours to feel differently which then influences our thoughts and hence our life.

What is a Colour Coach? A Colour Coach translates the universal language of colour. We explain what your colour choices in clothing saying about you, your personality, your history, your emotions, identify emotional issues that may be holding you back and what they are communicating to others about you. By finding out what you would like to change in your life, areas you would like to strengthen or goals you would you like to achieve, we can then recommend the colours which will support you to achieve this. The colours you don’t wear or don’t like or stopped wearing are all related to particular emotional issues.

Before and After Colour Coaching. Before Colour Coaching you would buy your clothes because they are in fashion, you want to look good or because you want to portray a certain image. After Colour Coaching you can also be proactive and use your colour choices in clothing to support you to feel the way you want to feel e.g. more energy, motivation, creativity, confidence, inspiration, adventurous or to enhance communication and restore trust in relationships. Every colour supports a different aspect of our emotional, mental and physical being.

By integrating more colour into your life you can really start to express your full potential and personality.
